TRAXON™ GEAR OIL

TRAXON™ represents the range of high quality multigrade lubricants for hypoid gears in motor vehicles and commercial vehicles, produced by Petro-Canada Lubricants.

TRAXON™ gear oil has been specifically formulated to offer exceptional shear stability and extended oil performance, providing significant protection to help extend equipment life and minimize downtime and maintenance costs.

TRAXON™ gear oils are designed for use in:

  • Most manual transmissions (excluding synchronized manual transmissions).
  • Differential and hypoid gears.
  • Power take-off units.
  • Final drives found in passenger cars, trucks and off-road vehicles used in construction, agriculture, forestry and mining operations.

TRAXON™ gear oil

For the type and grade required, refer to the owner’s manual.

Most TRAXON™ gear oils meet API GL-5 and MT-1 requirements, and are designed to meet or exceed the SAE J2360 global standard.

TRAXON™ gear oil is compatible with most oil-lubricated universal joints, wheel bearings, planetary gear sets, steering gears and certain industrial gearboxes that require GL-3 (inactive), GL-4 or GL-5 oils.

Due to specific lubrication needs, TRAXON™ gear oil and specialized manual transmission fluids (such as TRAXON™ Synthetic MTF 75W-80 and TRAXON™ Synthetic CD-50)* should not be used in:

  • Automatic transmissions.
  • Powershift transmissions.
  • Transmissions and hydrostatic systems including lubrication of clutches and wet brakes.
  • Manual transaxles in front-wheel drive vehicles requiring an engine oil or automatic transmission fluid.
  • Spicer manual transmissions that specify the use of monograde engine oils.

In addition, they should not be used in certain manual transmissions that require the exclusive use of an API GL-4 rated oil and a GL-4/MT-1 oil is not acceptable*.

TRAXON™ 75W-90 Synthetic gear oil

TRAXON™ 75W-90 Synthetic gear oil

Shear stability ensures that viscosity is maintained to protect equipment against metal-to-metal contact and wear, especially at elevated temperatures. Offers superior resistance to degradation and sludge formation, resulting in longer oil life with fewer changes and better gear protection.

Provides excellent protection in extreme cold conditions, facilitating starting and shifting in cold climates.

Improves torque efficiency compared to GL-5 80W-90 (from 20°C/68°F to 45°C/113°F at moderate loads), resulting in lower friction and lubricant drag, and smoother, more efficient operating performance, which could reduce fuel consumption. Meets API GL-5, MT-1, Meritor 0-94 and Scania STO 1:0 (axle and gearboxes/MT).

TRAXON™ Synthetic 75W-90 gear oil is approved to SAE J2360 (formerly MIL-PRF-2105E) global standard (PRI QPL GL-0841), ZF TE-ML Class 05A,16B,17B,21A (ZF 002212), MACK GO-J MAN 342 Typ M1 (obsolete) and Typ M2, and Meritor (listed worldwide on the TP 9539 extended oil change list in 0-76-Q and 0-95).
